Sarah Abouali

Research Coordinator

Sarah Abouali is a dedicated researcher, educator, and community leader passionate about advancing gender justice and working with diverse Muslim communities across Canada and globally. As a Research Coordinator for the Muslim Masculinities Global Study, Sarah explores the motivations of Muslim men who are engaged in Violence Against Women (VAW) prevention and gender justice advocacy.

In addition to her work on gender justice, Sarah is actively involved in the Canadian Muslim Youth (CMY) Project, which investigates identity formation and mental health among Muslim youth in the context of Islamophobia. She has co-authored articles, presented findings at conferences and workshops, and was a 2025 SSHRC Storytellers winner.

Beyond research, Sarah is a teacher and passionate youth leader in Calgary, working to help amplify the voices of young Muslims and help them thrive in a strong sense of identity and community. Her multifaceted work embodies a commitment to building equitable, compassionate, and advancing societies.
